The Earth Collection is the words first GREEN photography books. They are printed on 100% post-consumer recycled, acid-free archival paper, and are bound using environmentally sensitive materials from earth conscious suppliers. The entire process is powered by Green-E certified wind-power. Carbon offsets are purchased, and trees are planted with a portion of the proceeds from each Earth book that is ordered.
The Collection is bound using a smyth sewn binding. With the Smyth Sewn binding, the pages are folded, sewn and glued into the binding. This allows the books to lay flat when viewing, which makes it fantastic for panoramic images. It also offers superior durability, and we offer a lifetime guarantee on the binding and manufacturing to back that up.
Greenland: The Greenland books feature organic hemp and linens used for the spine and binding. The cover is a raw, exposed hard board, and includes text stamping.
Iceland: The Iceland book has a very modern look, with an earthy, green feel. The cover is a printed wrap around cover, with the image wrapping from the front cover, across the spine, and onto the back cover.
The edges of the cover are cut flush with the pages, and left unfinished to give it a more earthy, raw feel.
Alaska: The Alaska book reminds one of a special notebook that you’ve written your deepest thoughts in, or a family bible that you hold closely to your heart.
The cover is made of a soft, moleskine like material, and bound as a soft cover. It features rounded corners on the cover and the pages, to give it a more notebook like feel. It also features a unique cutout on the front and back cover, and spine to give you a preview of the insides.
Antarctica: The Antarctica style has a unique cover with peak-a-boo holes punched through the cover to show off the first page in the book. The cover itself can be made with recycled craft paper, or can also be a printed cover layout.
The cover holes can be of three sizes: dime, nickle or quarter sized, and can be placed in various locations on the cover.
